The One Thing that Destroys Everything

"The moment you think that you are way more better than others, everything will start to crumble down. Just like how Iblis is thrown out of heaven."

If there's one characteristic that is associated with Iblis, that will be arrogance (pride). And this arrogance is also the traits that destroys themselves (from an obedient creature into a cursed creature). Why? because they feel they are more better than the human (Prophet Adam) which Allah has created. Iblis said:  

"Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." - (Al-Hijr : 33)

The Iblis can't accept the fact that they have to give their prostration to a creation that is created from a clay, even though it was an instruction from Allah. They just can't accept that. They feel they are more better because they are created from fire. They don't even ask for forgiveness from Allah after they disobey Him. In fact they said it clearly, that they will continue to mislead humans (except the chosen one).

"My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all" - (Al-Hijr : 39)

It's a disease which is already inhabits on themselves. This disease is what the Iblis are trying to spread into the human's heart until now, in various forms and ways, identified, and (sometimes) unidentified. 

Arrogance (pride) is when someone thinks highly of themselves, and considers others as inferior to them. They look down on others, and dislikes when there are people way more better than them. They don't feel sorry when hurting others, or disobeying the rules. In fact, they only pursue their ego. See the pattern? it's exactly the same as Iblis.  

What makes me bring this issue? Good question.

When I looked at the stories of Fir'aun or Qarun, I feel like they have the same traits : arrogance. And it's so scary to see how Fir'aun used some strategies in his era that is so inhumane, which then led him to destruction. Fir'aun was an arrogant and he can't accept that Allah is the Almighty God. He can't and doesn't want to accept the truth.  Fir'aun built Pyramids just to show off  so that people "see" him, "praise" him, and become "obedient" to him. In fact, no. BIG NO. People despised him, even his wife hated him. He was deluded with the power and status that he had, because he had control over the government and the people. And when the corruption that he caused became more severe, Allah SWT punished him. He left all the glamorous home, properties, palaces, assets, behind to chase Prophet Musa. Even his power and status became meaningless in the face of the punishment that Allah gave him: He was drowned in a sea while chasing Prophet Musa. 

The psychological traits of Fir'aun was quite complex, because beneath his arrogance and superiority, there is this inferiority complex that he had: he was afraid that he will not be praised, looked up to, and honored by the society. He was afraid of losing the status and power that he had. The truth that Prophet Musa tried to tell to all of the society at that time is seen as a "threat" which will destroyed him. Therefore, he tried to kill Prophet Musa in order to stop the spread of the truth. But no matter what, Allah SWT has power of all things, including how to stop his inhumane strategy. 

"Moses replied, “I seek refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant person who does not believe in the Day of Reckoning.” - (Ghafir: 27) 

May Allah protect all the people of Palestine and protect us from every arrogant person.

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

"And do not turn your nose up to people, nor walk pridefully upon the earth. Surely Allah does not like whoever is arrogant, boastful. Be moderate in your pace. And lower your voice, for the ugliest of all voices is certainly the braying of donkeys.” - (Luqman : 18-19)
